Good day today I assessed a site where a new home has been built with the finishing touches been added. They asked me to assess several mature trees that are not healthy on investigating these trees are dead still with brown leaves having been killed during the construction. The builders stored building materials around base of the trees mix concrete and washed their equipment in the root zones.

This is now going to cost the owners several thousand of dollars to remove trees replant not to mention the loss of shade very important at this time of year to help keep the house cool.

If they has contracted me before the construction occurred I could have set up a Tree Protection zones and tree managed procedures so this would have not occurred.

Good day another busy week leading up towards Christmas on Monday I assessed a very large Eucalyptus tree in the Blue Mountains using a Elevated work Platform cheery picker to conduct a aerial inspection. The defect noticed from a visible inspection from the ground was of damage to the trunk where a previous tear out (Loss of a branch) the good news after using a 300mm steel probe and a rubber mallet determined the defect was solid, We did disturb a ring tail possum while conducting the assessment.

Also along with my other community involvements and donations this week I donated $500 AUS dollars to support and buy medical equipment for a Burmese hospital. This came about after a mate who has Burmese friends visited Myanmar (Burma) and he was going to donate money to the hospital and upon hearing this I thought it was worthwhile. The Village  is called Thabyu village, Kawa township, Yangon division.

I would like to thank Roger Attwater Senior Manager Environment & Risk Capital Works and facilities UWS for arranging this visit

It is amazing to see how much research that they are doing on how Climate change is going to affect our trees with many researches and research projects occurring from the tip of the trees to the soil.

This research will not only be valuable to those involved in the urban forest (Street, Park, and residential Trees) but also all of who love and enjoy our gardens.

Company Updates

Mulch should be a depth of 50mm to 75mm not enough and it will not stop unwanted plants/weeds from growing and to deep then air will not penetrate to your trees/plants root systems smothering them. The mulch should never be put next to tree/plants trunk/stems as this can burn them and or ring bark them with decay rot. Enjoy your Trees and gardens.

Good day now the rain has come and we have fertilised out gardens it is time to mulch. The benefit of mulching around our trees and gardens are plenty. Mulch is a good soil conditioner improving most soils over time including heavy clays, can stop the growth of unwanted plants/weeds and can over time help compacted soils.

Good day after many months of dry weather I have looked at the weather forecast and we may get some nice rain over the next 3 to 4 days with this forecast it is an ideal time to fertilise your gardens, plants, shrubs, fruit trees and trees and let the rain soak the fertiliser into the soil. Also Sealsol and other seaweed products are not a fertiliser but root stimulator which is good for stressed trees and new plantings.

Good day last night I attended a BIZNET function up at Katoomba the company was good with plenty of food and drinks wine beer soft drink. If you are not a member then you should consider joining to help improve and grow your business or just to meet new people.

Over the past two weeks I have been requested by many clients in the fire affected areas to assess their beloved trees and with recommendations on how these trees can be saved and be kept for many more years.

Fire damaged trees and shrubs may not have been killed by fire and with some care may be saved to continue to provide many more years of pleasure and value before removing and replacing ...it is more cost affective and come summer the hot weather the existing trees will provide valuable shade.
